IWCE 2017

Well that’s it… another memorable IWCE has drawn to a close.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the leading annual expo for the communications technology industry, staged once more at the Las Vegas Conference Centre in Nevada, USA, brought together some of the world’s leading companies to share knowledge, showcase the latest products, discuss industry trends and developments, and network.

The Simoco stand was particularly busy this year, attracting a wide range of attendees during the two-day exhibition. We showcased our latest products and Simoco’s specialist utilities division, smartUC, which generated a lot of interest.

Launched last year, smartUC provides smarter, unified communication solutions to the utilities sector. The division helps organisations manage complex networks and a widening portfolios of technologies efficiently.

Alongside smartUC, we demonstrated our Simoco Pulse DMR telemetry solution and our next generation digital mobile radios – the Simoco Xd 700 series – both of which utilise our expertise in mission critical communications to deliver reliable data and voice transmissions to organisations, including utility providers and public service operators.

We also showcased the Digital Mobile Radio (DMR) Tier III network recently developed using the Simoco Xd solution for Specialised Mobile Radio (SMR) operator Télécommunications de l’Est (TDE). With today’s SMR operators under pressure to deliver innovation across their networks, the DMR Tier III network TDE has implemented now enables full duplex calling, Over-The-Air Programming (OTAP) and push-to-talk (PTT) cellular capabilities.

The conference programme itself featured a variety of interesting keynote speeches, many of which focused on the co-existence of LMR and LTE, as well as the future development of cellular technology.

It was interesting to hear delegates’ opinions on these key topics. While most believed cellular and radio integration is of increased importance, the consensus was that 5GE availability and reliability still needs to be improved and PMR still has a key role to play in multi-network architectures.

We look forward seeing you all again in Florida next year!
